Gainesville officials announce Telephone Town Hall to discuss coronavirus

City of Gainesville COVID-19 Telephone Town Hall, event cancellations, impacts to operations

March 18th: COVID-19 Telephone Town Hall

The City of Gainesville will host a live Telephone Town Hall event about COVID-19 at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 18. Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe, Alachua County Health Department Administrator Paul Myers and members of the City of Gainesville Emergency Management Team will provide an update about the virus and field questions from callers. Neighbors with landlines are encouraged to register in advance. You will receive a call back to be connected automatically at the time of the event. Cell phone users can dial in directly by calling 1-888-410-3427.

Event Cancellations

Several city sponsored events for March and April have been cancelled including the GCRA 10-Year Reinvestment Plan Unveiling scheduled for March 17. Independent promoters and organizations have also cancelled several other previously scheduled events at city facilities.

Changes to City Services/Operations

RTS will begin modified reduced service beginning Monday, March 16. Visit www.go-rts.com for more information.
No new city events will be scheduled at this time.
All tours of city facilities are suspended for the next 30 days.
Interior visits of occupied spaces for inspections and other observation duties performed by units including code enforcement and housing have been suspended indefinitely, until otherwise advised.*

*This suspension does not apply to our public safety workers who are tasked with delivering critical, life-saving services.
