A 78-year-old Gainesville woman died when she collided with a pickup and trailer on SW 24th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the woman was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe east on SW 24th Avenue at 2:50 p.m. near SW 117th Street when, for reasons to be determined, she collided with the side of a 2002 Ford pickup pulling a utility trailer being driven west on SW 24th Avenue by a 41-year-old Gainesville man.
The Tahoe collided with the side of the pickup and then the front of the trailer and came to rest on the north shoulder of the road.
Emergency responders transported the woman to UF Shands Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The pickup driver suffered minor injuries.
