Gainesville woman dies in 2-vehicle collision on US 441

An 88-year-old Gainesville woman died Saturday evening when she drove in front of an oncoming pickup on US 441.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the woman was driving a sedan south on US 441 at 6:57 p.m. when she attempted to cross the northbound lanes of US 441 onto County Road 237 and was hit by a 24-year-old High Springs man driving a pickup northbound on US 441.

Emergency responders pronounced the Gainesville woman dead on scene. The High Springs man sustained minor injuries.
