It’s time to cash in your lottery tickets: Gainesville’s most expensive mansion is on the open market.

With a $3.875 million price tag, Big Oak Ranch is one of only two million-dollar home listings in Gainesville. The estate contains 60 acres with a lake, two large barns, a luxury main residence and a three-bedroom guest cottage.

The property is located north of Gainesville off of SR 121 and is steeped in history. UF dated a relic found on the property to be 12,000 years old and belonging to the Paleo-Americans. Other ancient artifacts have also been found at Big Oak Ranch.

The 7,813 sq. ft. main residence, with handmade European and South American furnishings, contains four bedrooms, five full baths, two half-baths, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, chef’s kitchen, wet bar, and other amenities―like a custom two-floor Tuscan wine cellar that can hold 15,000 bottles.

“This historical treasure is the ultimate legacy property — complete with centuries-old trees, equestrian acreage and a luxurious primary residence that has been crafted with the finest materials and finishes,” said Tasha Osbourne, the listing agent for Premier Sotheby’s International Realty.

For outdoor entertainment, the property includes an outdoor kitchen, a large pool, Jacuzzi with a swim-in grotto, and waterfalls. Indoor amenities include a cork-floored theater room with a 120-inch screen projector and 85-inch TV.

The residence also includes a six-car garage.
