A Georgia man died on Christmas Day after his vehicle left a Gilchrist County road and struck a tree.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday at an undisclosed location along U.S. Highway 129.
The 52-year-old driver, who was from Austell, Georgia, was driving a sedan northbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the west shoulder. He was pronounced dead about an hour later.
The man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
FHP did not indicate any potential cause for the crash or whether additional investigation would take place.
