A 67-year-old Hawkinsville, Georgia man died Monday evening on Interstate 75 when his SUV collided with a dump truck that got lodged under the County Road 136 overpass in Suwannee County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, a 51-year-old Colorado Springs, Colorado man was driving a Mack dump truck northbound on I-75 at mile marker 439 at 8:55 p.m. with the truck’s lift box elevated when the truck became lodged under the County Road 136 overpass.

A 67-year-old Hawkinsville, Georgia man driving a Ford Bronco struck the truck and the Ford caught fire.

Emergency responders transported the Ford driver to the hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. A 68-year-old Hawkinsville, Georgia woman who was riding in the Ford was also transported to the hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

The dump truck driver was not injured.
