GFR extinguishes Amoco gas station blaze

Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) extinguished a storefront fire at the Amoco gas station on 2222 NE Waldo Road on Monday evening.

According to a GFR release, crews were dispatched at 10:25 p.m. to a fire located on the gas station storefront that did not involve the gas pumps or fuel. The station was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

More than 20 GFR firefighters, along with an Alachua County Fire Rescue crew, responded to the blaze and were able to control and extinguish the fire. Waldo Road shut down while crews battled the blaze and later reopened the roadway when the scene stabilized.
