GFR responds to chemical fire at warehouse in Northwest Gainesville

At 12:15 pm today, multiple Gainesville Fire Rescue crews responded to a 911 call for a chemical fire at a warehouse located at the 4400 block of NW 13th Street. 28 firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and an active fire in the warehouse that stores pool chemicals. 

Engine 5 was first on scene. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire while other firefighters were able to evacuate the nearby building, check for fire extension, and perform a search for any possible victims. 

Gainesville Fire Rescue’s Hazardous Materials Team is on scene to perform air monitoring and to mitigate hazards of the chemicals. There are currently no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
