Our original story:

The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is searching for a suspect who robbed a bank in west Gainesville Tuesday afternoon.

According to GPD, at almost 1:30 p.m. a white male entered PNC Bank at 4340 Newberry Road and told the teller he had a bomb. He demanded all of the $100 and $50 bills the teller had, police said.

“The suspect was in possession of a white plastic bag, which he used to place the money he obtained from the teller,” GPD said in a press statement. “The suspect then fled from the bank and has not been located.”

The man, who appeared middle-aged, had dark hair and was wearing a yellow and white shirt with black shorts.

GPD said detectives are investigating the case, following leads and evaluating evidence. It asked anyone who knows the identify of the suspect or has other information related to the case to contact GPD Detective J. Castor at: 352-872-2101 or Alachua County Crime Stoppers at: 352-372-7867 or www.stopcrime.tv.
