A Gainesville man was taken into custody Tuesday on possessing 12 counts of pornography and two counts of distribution.
The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) arrested Daniel Campbell, 44, and he is being held in the Alachua County Jail on a $1.4 million bond.
The GPD SWAT team raided Campbell’s home at 2701 SW 13th Street on Sept. 22 after receiving a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) indicating an account holder had uploaded and shared child sexual abuse material through a social networking application, according to the GPD release.
An investigation revelated that the account was registered to Campbell and, after being interviewed by detectives, he admitted to sharing child abuse material through his Kik account and also possessing child abuse material. A forensic examination of his cell phone revealed 4,000 child abuse images.
GPD advised that anyone with questions about the incident can contact detective Donna Montague at 352-393-7730 or montagueda@cityofgainesville.org.
