A Hawthorne man died on Friday night when he drove off a boat ramp into the Gulf near Yankeetown.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 51-year-old Hawthorne man was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang west on County Road 40 (Follow That Dream Parkway) around 9:08 p.m. at a reportedly high rate of speed. He failed to stop at the boat ramp located at the end of CR 40 and traveled into the Gulf waters and sunk.

Emergency responders transported the man to Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River where he was pronounced deceased.

I believe this isn’t the first incident down there,maybe 1st drowning though sad ending.I been there before&dont quite know how this would happen?But 40 does end right there at the ramp.
