Head-on collision near Starke kills one, critically injures one

A 70-year-old Starke man died and a 52-year-old Starke man is in critical condition following a head-on collision on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the 70-year-old man was driving a sedan west on State Road 100 near SW 21st Street at 3:26 p.m. when he crossed the center line and collided with the 52-year-old man driving an SUV.

Emergency responders pronounced the 70-year-old driver dead on scene and transported the 52-year-old driver to UF Health Shands in Gainesville with critical injuries.
