Heartwood community homes to go on sale next month

The model home for the long-awaited Heartwood neighborhood has now complete and open for tours, the City of Gainesville reported this week.

The new community in East Gainesville has been in the works for 10 years and is a key part of development plans for the area.

“Revitalizing East Gainesville neighborhoods with expanded and upgraded housing, and well-maintained and upgraded infrastructure is part of the City’s goal to preserve Gainesville as a great place to live and experience,” a city press release said.

Heartwood, located at 1717 SE 8th Avenue, will include 11 home models ranging from 1,389 square feet to 2,610 square feet, according to the neighborhood website. The community will eventually include 34 houses, the city said, and sales will open on June 30.

Qualified buyers can use the Dreams2Reality financing program in partnership with the City of Gainesville’s Department of Housing and Community Development. Those interested in purchasing a home at Heartwood are invited to attend the Heartwood Homebuyers Virtual Information Session on Wednesday, June 2, available through a link on this page

WUFT reported last month that the waiting list for Heartwood already exceeded 1,000.

“The vision for Heartwood is to be a diverse, mixed-income community characterized by high-quality housing, top-level urban design, and community connectedness,” the city release said.
