Here’s a list of Alachua County closures

Alachua County services, schools and businesses are closing Wednesday ahead of Hurricane Elsa, which is expected to make landfall Wednesday morning as a Category 1 storm.

For the latest storm updates, Alachua County has opened the 311 Critical Information Line. All medical and law enforcement emergencies should call 911. All non-emergency law enforcement issues, call 352-955-1818.

  • All branches of the Alachua County Library District will be closed Wednesday, July 7, including the Story Time of the Green program.
    • The district plans to reopen for normal hours on Thursday.
    • Online services remain available at www.aclib.us.
  • Santa Fe College closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with no classes after 6 p.m., and will remain closed on Wednesday.
    • Plans to reopen on Thursday.
  • The University of Florida will cancel classes and close offices on Wednesday.
    • Plans to reopen on Thursday.
  • The Supervisor of Elections Office will close Wednesday.
  • Alachua County offices will close Wednesday until staff verifies safe conditions.
  • All Alachua County parks will close Wednesday until staff verifies safe conditions.
  • Camp Cuscowilla will close Wednesday until staff verifies safe conditions.
  • City of Gainesville offices and programs will close Wednesday.
  • All Alachua County Public Schools offices, programs, meal distribution and camps will close Wednesday.
    • Update: ACPS spokesperson Jackie Johnson confirmed Wednesday afternoon that operations will return to normal on Thursday.
  • No curbside waste collection on Wednesday, and the storm will delay all collections by one day.
  • The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System closed some facilities and canceled outpatient appointments at Gainesville’s Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. It also suspended Gainesville shuttle services. More information is available on the system’s website
