The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) is investigating a case of human remains found in northwest Alachua County on Wednesday.
“It is with heavy heart that Sheriff Clovis Watson Jr., announces that during a search today human remains were found in the area of NW Alachua County,” an ASO press release said.
Authorities were unable to identify the remains of the person.
“Detectives and Forensics Investigators will work diligently with the Medical Examiner’s Office to make a positive identification and determine a cause and manner of death,” the press release said.
When reached by phone, ASO spokeswoman Kaley Behl said she could not identify more closely the location of the remains because the investigation is still ongoing.

“We’re funneling any tips we get to the right people,” Behl said.
