A 55-year-old Keystone Heights man died Thursday morning when he collided with a vehicle that was stopped due to a lane closure on State Road 222 east of Gainesville.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Keystone Heights man was driving a Jeep Liberty east on SR 222 (NE 39th Avenue) at 8:36 a.m. and was approaching a lane closure near the State Road 26 intersection. He collided with the rear of a Freightliner box truck that was stopped. The box truck was then pushed forward into the back of a GMC Yukon, which was also stopped in traffic due to the lane closure.
Emergency responders transported the Keystone Heights man to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he was later pronounced dead.
