Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Kristine Van Vorst to serve as judge on the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court on Tuesday.

Van Vorst, who has served as a county court judge for Alachua County since 2017, will fill the vacancy created when Judge Mark Moseley resigned in April.

The Eighth Judicial Circuit covers Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Gilchrist, Levy and Union counties.

Van Vorst, of Gainesville, previously served as a General Magistrate in the Eighth Judicial Circuit. She earned both her bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from the University of Florida.
