One person died in a four-vehicle collision that occurred on US Highway 90 and NW Centurion Court in Lake City on Monday afternoon.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, a driver was eastbound and approached NW Centurion Court at 3628 West Hwy 90 at 1:10 p.m. when it rear-ended another vehicle, pushing it onto a sidewalk. The driver then made a left turn onto NW Centurion Court, sideswiping a third vehicle, and continued at a high rate of speed where it struck a fourth vehicle that was parked and unoccupied.
The driver suffered fatal injuries, according to the release.
The first driver whose vehicle was initially rear-ended sustained minor injuries and the person driving the vehicle that was sideswiped was not injured.
The collision caused major traffic congestion around W. US Hwy 90 and Interstate 75 for several hours.
