A 54-year-old Lake City woman died Wednesday evening when she was hit by a pickup while walking on US Highway 441.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the woman was walking north on US Highway 441 near NW Quinten Street at 8:28 p.m. when a 37-year-old Lake City man driving a pickup struck the pedestrian.
The pickup driver then completed a U-turn before coming to a controlled stop in the center of the continuous left turn lane on US 441.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead on scene.
