Lake City Police Chief Argatha Gilmore tendered her resignation on Tuesday with the interim city manager after 12 years of service. Her last day will be Nov. 8.
In her letter, Gilmore said she would always remember the day she was sworn in as police chief on Sept. 28, 2009.
“Serving as the police chief has been a wonderful experience that has afforded me valuable opportunities to learn and grow,” Gilmore said in the letter.
She added that the police force has done a “phenomenal job” and will continue to be exceptional members of law enforcement.
Before serving as police chief, Gilmore worked for the Tallahassee Police Department for 25 years. In 2003, she graduated from the FBI National Academy and earned her Doctorate of Strategic Leadership Foresight from Regent University in 2018.
