A 46-year-old Live Oak cyclist was killed when he turned in front of a pickup on US Highway 90 and was hit early Thursday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 58-year-old Live Oak man was driving a pickup west on US 90 near Wood Avenue in Live Oak at 2:33 a.m. when the cyclist, also traveling west on US 90, made an abrupt left turn into the travel lane in front of the pickup. The pickup then collided with the bicyclist.

Emergency responders transported the cyclist to HCA Florida Suwannee ER where he was later pronounced dead.

I wish they would tell us whether or not the cyclist had lights or any other way to make his bike visible at this time of day.
