This week several area girls and boys basketball teams will be participating in holiday tournaments.
Bronson High School is hosting a round robin girls and boys basketball tournament. The Eagle Invitational Holiday Classic Shootout begins today and runs through Wednesday. Tickets are $6. You can also watch a ‘live’ stream of the games online at www.NFHSNetwork.com.
The first game of the tournament is this afternoon at 3 p.m. with the Newberry girls facing Lafayette (Mayo). That will be followed by the Cedar Key girls and Bronson Lady Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Tonight at 6 p.m., the Newberry boys will play Williston, followed by the Bronson and Union County boys tonight at 7:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, the Cedar Key girls will play Lafayette (Mayo) at 3 p.m., followed by the Bronson girls and Newberry at 4:30 p.m. That will be followed by the boys games. Tomorrow night at 6, Union County will face Williston, followed by the Bronson vs. Newberry game on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The tournament concludes on Wednesday with four games. The Newberry girls will face Cedar Key at 3 p.m., followed by Bronson and Lafayette (Mayo) at 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday night, the Newberry boys will play Union County at 6 p.m., followed by Bronson and Williston on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The undefeated Hawthorne girls basketball team will play Class 7A West Orange High School this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Florida Prospects Classic in Orlando. The Lady Hornets (6-0) are the defending 1A state champions.
At 4:30 p.m. today in Palatka, the Gainesville boys basketball team will play University Christian (Jacksonville) at the Jarvis Williams Christmas Tournament. P.K. Yonge will play GHS on Day 2 tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
Later this week, St. Francis Catholic Academy will host the Premier Basketball Holiday Showcase, Jan. 1-3. Area teams St. Francis Catholic, P.K.
