Two Alachua County single-vehicle crashes happened on Thursday night and then Friday morning, resulting in driver fatalities.

On Friday, a 28-year-old Gainesville woman was traveling south on I-75 when she drove off the road, hitting trees and starting a car fire. The crash happened around 10:30 p.m., and a release from Florida Highway Patrol said the woman was declared dead at the scene.

The release said it is unknown why the vehicle left the interstate.
