The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash last night that occurred at approximately 10 pm in Marion County.
According to the FHP report, a 21-year-old Dunnellon man in a sedan was traveling west on SW 5th Place, approaching the T-intersection of SW 210 Avenue.
According to the report, the driver failed to observe the stop sign, traveled through the intersection and struck a tree with its front section on the west shoulder.
The crash occurred during the overnight hours and was discovered by a passerby when the sun came up. The FHP and Marion County Fire Rescue responded at approximately 7 am, when MCFR pronounced the driver deceased on the scene.
The FHP did not release the name of the driver in the incident.
