The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash last night at approximately 2:30 am in Alachua County.
According to the FHP report, a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling east on State Road 24 south of Waldo. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle exited the south shoulder of the roadway and overturned several times before coming to a final rest within a concrete culvert/ditch.
The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old woman from Gainesville, was pronounced deceased on scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue. This is an ongoing traffic homicide investigation. The FHP did not release the name of the driver in the incident.
