Breaking Overnight: Lake City man dies in motorcycle crash

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash last night at approximately 8 pm in Columbia County.

A 21-year old Lake City man, riding a 2015 BMW S1000R motorcycle, was traveling westbound on NW Nash Road approaching a right-hand curve in the roadway when, for reasons still under investigation, traveled across the eastbound lane and onto the south shoulder.

After traveling onto the shoulder, the motorcycle impacted several trees before coming to rest on its right side on the south shoulder. The driver separated from the motorcycle and fell on the south shoulder in the tree line beside the motorcycle. He was pronounced deceased by the Emergency Medical Service at the scene.
