A Chiefland man, 83, died Wednesday morning after a crash with a semitruck on U.S. 19 at the intersection with C.R. 347.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that the accident happened just before 4 a.m. when the Chiefland man, driving an SUV, stopped at the intersection and then continued across U.S. 19.
Already travelling south on the highway, the semitruck, driven by a 32-year-old Reddick resident, collided with the SUV.
FHP reported the vehicles entered the west shoulder of the roadway, where the SUV flipped. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report, and the semitruck driver received minor injuries.
