
A Chiefland woman died Thursday afternoon when she collided with another vehicle on NW U.S. Highway 19.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. Thursday. The Chiefland woman, 63, was driving an SUV east on NW 60th Street, also known as County Road 347, approaching U.S. Highway 19, where a van was traveling south.
FHP reported that the woman driving the SUV pulled into the path of the van, which collided with the left side of the SUV. The SUV rotated and came to a rest facing east in the middle of U.S. Highway 19.
The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The drive of the van, a 68-year-old man from Indiana, sustained minor injuries.
