Columbia County school bus involved in 3-vehicle crash

A truck was hit in Columbia County while stopping for a school bus from Ft. White Middle/ High School, pushing truck into the school bus and sending the driver, a 44-year-old Lake City resident, to UF Shands with serious injuries. 

Florida Highway Patrol reports that two of the 14 students on the bus reported minor injuries but were not transported for medical care. The bus was towed away from the crash.

The incident happened on Monday at 3:35 p.m. near the intersection of SR 47 and SW Sedgefield Lane. According to the FHP report, the school bus was stopped to let off students, and the pickup truck was stopped in the other direction, obeying the stop sign on the bus.

A 33-year-old female from Georgia was driving in the same direction as the truck but failed to stop before hitting the truck and sending into the bus. The Georgia driver had minor injuries.
