Fort White teen dies when pickup tire failure leads to collision with tree

An 18-year-old Fort White man died on Saturday when his pickup experienced tire failure, traveled off State Road 47 in Columbia County and collided with a tree.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the teen was driving a 2003 Ford F150 pickup on SR 47 near the intersection of SW Vixen Way north of Fort White at 3:38 p.m. when the pickup experienced a tire failure. The pickup traveled in a northeast direction, left the paved portion of the roadway and collided with a tree on the east shoulder.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on scene.
