Head-on collision kills 2, injures 1 near Live Oak

Two people died and one is in serious condition after an SUV attempted to pass traffic on US Highway 90 that resulted in a head-on collision in Suwannee County on Monday evening.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 30-year-old male driving his SUV eastbound at 7:10 p.m. on US 90 attempted to pass other traffic. The SUV collided head on with a sedan being driven westbound on US 90 by a 36-year-old male from Lake Park, Georgia.

Emergency responders pronounced the SUV driver and the passenger in the sedan – a 34-year-old female from Lake City – dead on scene. The sedan driver was transported to the hospital and is in serious condition.

FHP reported the sedan driver was wearing a seatbelt. It was not known if the SUV driver or the sedan passenger were wearing seatbelts.
