Keystone Heights man dies in accident

A Keystone Heights man died Saturday morning when he lost control and was thrown from his motorcycle.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the accident occurred at 2:49 a.m. The 39-year-old man was traveling south on SE County Road 21B, approaching the intersection with SE Eighth Avenue, which is west of Keystone Heights.

For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle continued in a northerly direction when the road curved to the left. The motorcycle traveled onto the grass shoulder, struck a mailbox and then began to overturn.

The man was thrown from the motorcycle and came to final rest near the vehicle. He was wearing a helmet, but first responders pronounced him dead on the scene. FHP did not report the exact nature of his injuries.
