
UPDATE (04/17/26 at 8:14 p.m.): Florida Highway Patrol reports that the driver of the orange and blue pickup truck was found on Friday. The driver was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash with injuries and property damage. This post will be updated when new information is available.
A Marion County Public Schools bus filled with 54 students was hit by an orange and blue pickup truck on Monday morning, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports.
FHP said the bus was stopped while headed westbound on SE 145th Street near the intersection with SE 38th Terrace. The truck was coming up from behind and failed to stop before hitting and damaging the back of the bus. The incident happened around 8:22 a.m.
The pickup truck driver left the scene and didn’t leave identifying information. FHP said five students were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.
