Update: Manhunt for murder suspect goes nationwide

Update (12:15 p.m.): According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office (USCO), the manhunt for alleged murder suspect Anthony George has gone nationwide.

On Tuesday, USCO posted on its Facebook page that the department obtained nationwide extradition warrants with a $1.5 million bond for George’s arrest after he shot and killed Hope H. William Jr., 35, of Lake Butler, and shot and injured two other people on Saturday. One victim was treated and released while the other victim remains in serious but stable condition.

George was last sighted traveling on foot at 3 a.m. on Sunday. USCO recovered his vehicle and it is being processed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Crime Lab for evidence.

USCO said it is working with the U.S. Marshall Service-Fugitive Task Force Unit to expand the search nationwide.

Law enforcement is searching for a man who allegedly shot and killed one person and injured two others in Lake Butler on Saturday night.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) responded to shots fired with multiple victims to an area west of SW 1st Terrace around SW 8th Lane around 10 p.m., according to a UCSO press release.

Emergency responders treated the victims, one of whom succumbed to his injuries.

According to the report, Anthony Lydell George, 56, of Lake Butler, was identified as the shooter who fled the scene. As of Sunday afternoon, law enforcement continues to search for George and consider him armed and dangerous.

Authorities ask anyone with information on George’s whereabouts to call 386-496-2501 or 911 and not attempt to approach him.

UCSO continues to receive help from the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Corrections K-9 unit, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission with the investigation.
