Updating Breaking News: Highway Patrol responds to fatal crash in Suwannee County

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash today at approximately 12:50 PM in Suwannee County.

According to the FHP report, a pickup truck, driven by a 64-year-old man from Tallahassee, was westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 285 in the outside travel lane. A second vehicle, a tractor/trailer driven by a 37-year-old man from Houston, was westbound on I-10 in the outside travel lane ahead of the pickup.

The second vehicle slowed for traffic ahead, but the pickup truck failed to slow, causing the front of it to strike the rear of truck’s trailer. Both vehicles came to rest on the outside travel lane facing west.

According to the report, the driver of the pickup truck died from the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the tractor/trailer did not report any injuries.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers in the incident.
