Updating Breaking News: Motorcyclist dies in collision with SUV in Marion County

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash at approximately 4:45pm this afternoon in Marion County.

According to the FHP report, a motorcycle was traveling northbound on CR 314 near the intersection of 52nd Place Road near Silver Springs in Marion County. The motorcyclist was a 36-year-old man from Silver Springs.

A Sport Utility Vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old woman from Jacksonville, was traveling southbound on CR 314 when the motorcycle crossed the center double yellow line and entered into the southbound lane, and struck the front of the SUV.

Both vehicles came to rest on the west side of the roadway. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. The SUV driver, and a passenger in the SUV reported minor injuries according to the FHP report.

The FHP did not release the name of either the driver, passenger, or motorcyclist.
