Updating Breaking News: Two-vehicle crash in Suwannee County kills one, injures two

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision yesterday at approximately 7PM on Interstate 10 in Suwanee County.

According to the FHP report, A Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 20-year-old Fernandina Beach man, was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 275 in the outside lane, and a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 275 in the outside lane directly in front of the Jeep.

For reasons currently under investigation, the front of the Jeep collided with the rear of the pickup, causing the Jeep spin and overturn on the north shoulder of Interstate 10. The pickup rotated and continued off the south shoulder and overturned in the median.

While overturning, the rear occupant of the Chevrolet pickup truck, a 41-year-old man from Tallahassee, was ejected. He was was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the Jeep was arrested on the scene and booked into the Suwannee County jail for DUI Manslaughter. Further charges are pending due to this being an ongoing traffic homicide investigation.

The driver of the pickup truck, and a passenger in the Jeep, a 27 year-old man from Fernandina Beach, both sustained serious injuries in the collision according to the FHP report. The driver of the Jeep did not report any injuries.

The FHP did not release the names of the drivers or passenger in the incident.
