Man dies after SUV collides with tree, catches fire near Hampton

The male driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer was killed early Tuesday morning when his vehicle drove off SE 109th Street and struck a tree northeast of Hampton in Bradford County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the man (unknown age and town) was driving south on SE 109th Street near SE 45th Avenue at 2 a.m. when he exited the road on the west shoulder. He overcorrected and the vehicle rotated counterclockwise, exiting the road on the east shoulder, where it struck a tree.

The SUV then caught fire, and the vehicle caught fire with the driver was entrapped inside.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on scene.
