Update (Tuesday, 4:55 pm) The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) reported that Cheyenne Mathis has been located and is safe.

The 12-year-old Gainesville girl was reported missing Tuesday morning and a Florida Missing Child Alert was issued.

Authorities are searching for a 12-year-old Gainesville girl last seen around 3200 SW 27th Street.

According to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) release sent Tuesday afternoon, Cheyenne Mathis may be in the company of an unknown black male in his 20s or 30s.

Mathis was last seen wearing a brown shirt, pink pants and is possibly carrying a backpack. She has brown hair, brown eyes, weighs 100 pounds and is 5 feet tall.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release stated Mathis reportedly did not board her school bus on Tuesday morning. Anyone with information regarding Mathis are asked to contact ACSO at 352-955-1818 or the FDLE at 888-356-4774.
