A 74-year-old Morriston man died Thursday morning when he pulled out in front of a semi pulling a flatbed trailer that led to a three-vehicle collision on US 41 in Levy County.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the Morriston man was driving west on County Road 323 at 9:23 a.m. and stopped at the intersection of US 41. A 65-year-old Micanopy man driving a tractor with a flatbed trailer carrying a tree was driving south on US 41 while approaching the CR 323 intersection. A 65-year-old Morriston woman was driving a sedan south on US 41 and was stopped in the left turn lane of the intersection.

The Morriston man then drove into the northbound lane of US 41 into the tractor-trailer’s path, violating the truck’s right of way. The Micanopy driver collided with the Morriston man’s vehicle in the left front fender area and then he swerved and struck the Morriston woman in the vehicle’s left front section.
