National Weather Service issues tornado watch

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville has issued a tornado watch that will be in effect until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The alert was sent at 11:38 a.m. and includes the following 11 counties: Alachua, Bradford, Gilchrist, Union, Marion, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johnson.

The tornado watch followed an NWS wind advisory alert sent at 3:18 a.m. on Wednesday that stated southwest winds of 20 to 25 mph were expected with gusts up to 70 mph. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
