The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flood watch for North Central Florida early Friday as thunderstorms are projected to dump 3 to 5 inches of rain through Saturday morning.
According to the NWS Jacksonville branch, excessive rain in recent days coupled with Friday’s storm may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, along with poor drainage and urban areas.
The storm system is projected to subside by late morning to midday Saturday and will be followed by a cold front that will send temperatures plummetting into the low 30s Saturday night through Sunday morning.
