One dead, three injured in Levy County crash

Update: According to FHP spokesman Patrick Riordan, emergency responders transported all three injured persons to UF Health Shands for treatment. The 22-year-old truck driver was airlifted to the hospital, while the other two were ground transported.

A Morristown man died and three others were injured in a three-car crash south of Williston Monday afternoon. 

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, a 39-year-old Morristown man was traveling northbound on US Highway 41 when his SUV curved into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected when he collided with two cars traveling southbound on Highway 41.

First responders pronounced him dead on the scene. 

The first vehicle the SUV hit was a truck driven by a 22-year-old Ocala woman, the FHP report said. She was wearing a seatbelt but still suffered serious injuries. 

The third vehicle, another SUV, was driven by a 76-year-old Dunnellon man and a 30-year-old female passenger, also of Dunnellon. Both suffered serious injuries, according to the report. 

FHP is continuing to investigate the crash.
