Partnership for Strong Families’ Family Resource Centers received a $95,000 contribution from AT&T to expand technology access, improve connectivity and offer digital literacy education that helps families use digital devices safely and responsibly.
The investment is designed to remove potential barriers to long-term self-sufficiency and family stability by helping community members gain access to technology, broadband services and the skills needed to navigate today’s digital world, according to a Partnership for Strong Families (PFSF) press release.
AT&T presented the contribution check during an event at the Tri-County Community Resource Center in Chiefland on Wednesday.
“At Partnership for Strong Families, we know that access to technology is no longer optional; it is essential to education, employment, connection, and long-term family stability,” said Ginger Griffeth, president and CEO of Partnership for Strong Families, in a press release. “Thanks to AT&T’s investment, our Family Resource Center Network will help more families gain the tools, skills, and confidence they need to safely and successfully navigate today’s digital world.”
The contribution will help address barriers to digital access while increasing participants’ knowledge and confidence in using technology. Funding will support upgrades to computer labs, expanded laptop availability and updated equipment, giving community members more reliable access to broadband services and internet-enabled devices.
The technology resources also will support community-focused programming, including digital literacy, money management, after-school enrichment and workforce readiness activities.
“At AT&T, we believe that closing the digital divide requires more than connectivity — it takes collaboration, local leadership, and a shared commitment to helping families build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in today’s digital world,” said Joe York, AT&T president, Southeast states, in the release. “Partnership for Strong Families is doing incredible work through its Family Resource Centers to support families across these communities, and we are proud to celebrate this partnership and help expand access to the tools, technology, and digital literacy resources that can create lasting opportunity.”
The project also will provide digital literacy programming for youth and adults focused on responsible technology use. Hands-on training and workshops will cover topics including online safety, cyberbullying prevention and digital well-being, helping participants confidently and responsibly engage in digital spaces.
Three Partnership for Strong Families Family Resource Centers will receive funding:
- Tri-County Community Resource Center in Chiefland, serving rural Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy counties.
- SWAG Family Resource Center in southwest Gainesville.
- NorthStar Family Resource Center in Lake City.
Together, the three centers receive approximately 22,000 visits annually and provide support services designed to help families and community members overcome barriers to long-term stability.
