The Florida Highway Patrol has notified the next of kin of a vehicle versus pedestrian fatality crash victim that occurred on Friday in Columbia County near Lake City.
According to reports, a sport utility vehicle struck the now-deceased pedestrian on U.S. Highway 90 near the Columbia/Suwannee County line at about 2:45 a.m.
The pedestrian, a 25-year-old male, was in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by the SUV, the report states.
According to FHP Spokesperson Lt. Patrick Riordan, the investigation is still on-going.
