Pedestrian dies trying to cross I-75

Key Points

A Miami man died early Saturday morning while trying to cross I-75 between Gainesville and Alachua. 

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the 41-year-old Miami man entered the southbound lanes at 3:22 a.m. near mile marker 394 in Alachua County.

A Kentucky couple, traveling in a pickup truck with a 2-year-old baby, struck him first. Then an unidentified southbound vehicle ran over the man and continued traveling south.

FHP reported having no information on the second vehicle. It also reported no traffic problems based on the incident. 

The Kentucky couple, both of whom were wearing seatbelts, were uninjured. The baby was in a child restraint and also unharmed.
