Pedestrian hit, killed on Millhopper Road in Gainesville

A man died early Thursday morning when he was hit by a sedan while walking on Millhopper Road (County Road 232) in Northwest Gainesville.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 43-year-old Trenton woman was driving a sedan eastbound on Millhopper Road (CR 232) near NW 97th Boulevard at 1:20 a.m. when she struck a man walking in the roadway.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead on scene. The man’s identity was unknown at the time of the collision and FHP is conducting an ongoing investigation.

Sad. Possibly a self termination. That’s a pretty upscale residential area, so the only people likely to be walking on 232 at that hour are residents from nearby homes.
