A pickup struck the rear of a motorized scooter west of Live Oak, killing a 53-year-old Live Oak man on Friday evening.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 21-year-old Live Oak man driving a pickup westbound on NW County Road 250 around 7:45 p.m. was approaching the intersection of 217th Road when he hit the rear of a motorized scooter directly in front of him in the right lane.
The pickup came to a controlled stop on the right grassy shoulder following the collision and the scooter came to a final rest on the right grassy shoulder behind the pickup, according to the release.
Emergency responders said the scooter operator succumbed to his injures on scene and the FHP is investigating the incident.Â
