Pickup-semi tanker collision kills 1 near Bell

The Florida Highway Patrol reported a fatality Thursday in a 2-vehicle accident east of Bell.

A 22-year-old Bell man was driving a 2018 Toyota Tacoma driving east on County Road 232 when he drove in front of a Jacksonville man, 48, driving a 2006 International semi pulling an empty fuel tank trailer going north on State Road 47. The accident occurred at 1:46 p.m.

The semi tanker hit the right side of the Tacoma, which came to rest facing south on the east shoulder of SR 47. Emergency responders pronounced the Tacoma driver dead on scene.

FHP is continuing to investigate the incident.
