Positive COVID-19 cases in Florida goes over 11,000 for the second time; 435 hospitalizations breaks single day record

The Florida Department of Health reported 11,433 new cases to the Florida COVID-19 Dashboard, bringing the total positive test count to 244,151 cases as of the July 9th report.

The FDOH also reported 90,024 new tests from Thursday. The positive rate was 12.7% of the total, according to the report.

Here is a breakdown of the new coronavirus cases reported by the state each day for the past 10 days:
  • June 29: 5,266
  • June 30: 6,093
  • July 1:    6,535
  • July 2:    10,109
  • July 3:    9,488
  • July 4:    11,455
  • July 5:    10,059
  • July 6:     6,336
  • July 7:     7,347
  • July 8:     9,989
  • July 9:     8,935
  • July 10:   11,433

Statewide hospitalizations­­­ are at 17,167 an increase of 409. The state is not reporting a total number of “recovered” COVID-19 patients, or those currently hospitalized.

4,102 people have died from the virus in Florida, an increase of 93 over the day before.

Alachua County is at 1,978 – up 107 from yesterday.

Gilchrist County 133  – up 9 from yesterday

Columbia County 433  – up 12 from yesterday.

Levy County 241 – up 2 from yesterday.

Bradford County  119  – up 6 from yesterday.

In Alachua County towns:

Alachua/LaCrosse/Worthington Springs 97 – up 3 from yesterday.

Archer 32 – up 3 from yesterday.

Hawthorne 19 – up 1 from yesterday.

High Springs 32 – no change from yesterday.

Micanopy 9 – no change from yesterday.

Newberry 80 – up 3 from yesterday.

Waldo 8 – no change from yesterday.
